Stuart Matheson is a senior wealth advisor at Olympus Wealth Management. He manages and seeks to preserve wealth for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients by providing first-class service and bringing to bear the formidable resources of the Olympus team. More specifically, he helps with coordination of the investment dialogue and integration of the investments with the estate plan, and he helps plan for liquidity events, taxes, estate planning, wealth transfers, charitable giving, asset protection, business succession and retirement.
Mr. Matheson has over 10 years of experience serving wealthy families. Prior to joining Olympus Wealth Management, Mr. Matheson worked as an estate and tax planning attorney at Hale and Wood, LLP, one of Utah’s premier estate and tax planning boutique law firms. Among other things, he focused on complex estate and business planning, large estate administration, simplification of intergenerational multi-trust structures, corporate structuring and maintenance, as well as tax-efficient and self-reliance-focused wealth transfers to descendants. Before Hale and Wood, Mr. Matheson was a shareholder at Matheson & Howell PC, prior to which he was an associate in the Global Project Finance Group of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP’s Los Angeles office. In law school, Mr. Matheson served on the Harvard Corporation’s Advisory Committee on Shareholder Responsibility.
Mr. Matheson serves as the Executive Director for the Paul T. Walton, Jr. Charitable Foundation. He enjoys recreating with his family, dining with his friends, serving in his church, reading the Economist and spending time in the mountains. He lives in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, with his wife and four children.
